How the questions are written and checked
DMV Exam Pass questions are independently written for each state's official driver, motorcycle, and commercial driver manuals. This page says exactly what is checked before a question is published, and what is not.
Where a question starts
Every bank is written for one state and one license from that state's current official manual. No manual text is copied or served; the questions test the rules, in our own words, with the rule explained in the answer.
The real exam questions are not public. We do not use, claim, or advertise leaked or exact exam questions, and the site is not affiliated with any licensing agency.
What every question passes before it is published
- A recorded official source for the rule it tests.
- Exactly four choices, one correct, with a written rationale for the correct answer and for every wrong one.
- Duplicate and near-duplicate checks against every other question in the bank and in every other state's bank.
- Rejection of mechanical filler and repeated answer templates.
- Every illustration checked against its record, with alt text.
- Exactly 100 questions per bank in ten topics of ten, so a test of any length is balanced.
What the checks do not cover
The checks verify structure, sourcing, and originality. They do not verify that each question's fact is a correct reading of the manual. A question can pass every check and still misstate a rule, which is why corrections are easy to report and are recorded publicly.
How coaching and exam mode differ
Coaching mode shows whether each answer was right, and why, before you move on. Exam mode withholds the explanation and the correct choice until the end, the way the real test does, but still shows your running score. Both draw from the same bank and score on our servers; no answer key is sent to the browser.
