Questions

Tennessee practice test questions

Which Tennessee practice tests are available?

Three, one per license: the permit test for a Driver License, the motorcycle knowledge test, and the CDL knowledge test. Each has its own 100-question bank written for Tennessee, 300 questions in all.

Who gives the real knowledge test in Tennessee?

Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security Driver Services Division. DMV Exam Pass is an independent study service and is not affiliated with it.

Are the practice tests free?

Yes, all three, with no sign-up. An optional account saves progress across devices.

Which Tennessee manuals are the questions written from?

The Tennessee Comprehensive Driver License Manual (Undated cover; information current as of July 1, 2022), the Tennessee Motorcycle Operator Manual, and the Tennessee Commercial Driver License Manual.

How many questions does each Tennessee bank have?

100, in ten topics of ten, so a test of any length is balanced across everything the manual covers. You choose a Quick check of 25, a Practice run of 50, or a Full challenge of 100.

Are these the real exam questions?

No. Nobody outside the agency has the real questions, and we do not use, claim, or advertise leaked or exact exam questions. These are independently written questions that test the same rules.

What is the difference between coaching mode and exam mode?

Coaching mode shows whether each answer was right, and why, before you move on; it is for learning. Exam mode holds the explanations and the correct choices until the end and still shows your running score; it is for checking readiness. Both draw from the same bank, and scoring happens on our servers, so no answer key is loaded in your browser.

Do the tests include road signs and pictures?

Yes. Across the three Tennessee banks, 7 questions are illustrated with a sign, signal, marking, or road scene.

Can I continue a test on another device?

Yes, with a free account. A test in progress is saved on this device either way and offered again when you return.

Do I need a Tennessee license or ID to practice?

No. Pick the license you are preparing for and start; nothing is checked and nothing is submitted to the agency.
